The Center and Science & Technology Popularization Base of Pujiang Green Valley Low Carbon Agriculture Participated in Activity of National Science Popularization Day

During the national science popularization week, Pujiang Youth Center held “Innovative Technology, Intelligent Life – 2015 Pujiang National Science Popularization Day & Award Ceremony of Shanghai Children’s Science Popularization Micro-Fairy Tale Contest” on September 20. Upon invitation by the Youth Center, Bor S. Luh Food Safety Research Center (the “Center”) and Pujiang Green Valley Base of School of Agriculture and Biology jointly participated in this activity. Two teachers from the Center Fu Weiyan and Liu Monan, two teachers from Pujiang Green Valley Base Zhou Yuanfei and Peng Yongzheng and two students from Zhigeng Nongyuan Science & Technology Association participated in this activity.


The teachers explained the knowledge about food safety to the audience and answered the questions relating to GMF. The volunteers distributed the relevant materials, collected the questionnaires and introduced two kinds of plants to the children, i.e. “kalanchoe daigremontian hybrid” (also called as “bryophyllum pinnatum”) and “cabbage”; they also handed out the seedling, explained the planting methods and told the children to care for the plants.


The knowledge about food safety was publicized in this activity, which enhanced the awareness on food safety of the public. This activity was warmly responded and supported by the participating parents and children.
