American Registered Dietitian Hazel Ng, RD was invited by Bor S. Luh Food Safety Research Center for a Report

Hazel Ng, a registered dietitian in USA, came to the School of Agriculture and Biology, Shanghai Jiaotong University to make an academic report entitled as “2015 Latest Dietary Guidelines for Americans (Disease Prevention)” at the invitation by Bor S. Luh Food Safety Research Centeron the morning of July 16. This symposium was hosted by Professor Zhou Pei, Dean of School of Agriculture and Biology.

 

Hazel is the first private nutritionist in Los Angeles, California, USA. She commits to promoting healthy diets for the Chinese community, and converting nutrition knowledge with scientific basis into spread information. She is also a guest writer for “Nutrition Column” of Lu Boxun Center website. In the report, Hazel mainly explained the following four topics: The profession of registered dietitian in USA; suggestions on fat and cholesterol update in diets; way of life management to reduce cardiovascular risk provided by AHA and ACC in 2013; the healthy dietary pattern ranking first in USA.

 

During this wonderful report, the teachers and students had a heated discussion with Hazel. This report provides great help for us on how to eat a healthy diet and lose weight, becoming a rare experience to learn for the teachers and students.
