THIRTY-one northern beaches food businesses have been added to the NSW Food Authority’s ‘Name and Shame’ list in the past 12 months.

The online list is a public record of eateries and food businesses that have been fined for an alleged food safety breach.

The penalty notices were issued after spot checks of the businesses by local council inspectors.

Twenty-seven businesses within the Warringah Council area feature on the list, with more than 50 penalty notices between them.

The fines range from $440 for not having a “temperature measuring device”, to $880 for more serious cleanliness or pest control issues.

Some of the alleged breaches occurred more than a year ago.
