On Oct. 21st, Dr. Yaowen Huang, Professor the University of Georgia visited the Center，Vice-president Yan Yu awarded him the certificate of the Guest Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Dr. Yaowen Huang got his PhD from the Department of Food Science, University of Georgia, Athens, GA in 1983. He then accepted a position as professor at the same university. Dr. Huang has made outstanding achievements in the research area of food safety and microbiology, application of nanotechnology on rapid pathogens detection, aquatic food technology, Asian functional foods and new product/process development. He was appointed as the honorary member of Scientist Institute of America Food in 2009.
Professor Yao-wen Huang made a speech titled as ‘Application of Nanotechnology on Food Safety System’.In the presentation, Professor Huang shared research development of his research team in rapid pathogen detection using nanotechnology with audience. More than 20 teachers and students attended this seminar, they showed high interests on the speech and had a heated discussion with Professor Huang. Also Professor Huang wished to have more exchange and collaboration with SJTU faculties and students.
