2009 Food Safety and Public Policy International Conference & The Fifty International Forum on Food Safety was held at the Faculty of Agriculture and Biology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University on Nov. 9th and 10th.
The forum is sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Food and Drug Administration and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Dr. Wei Cai, vice president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Mr. Mingqiang Xie, deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Food and Drug Administration, and Mrs. Xiaoming Dong, Director of Bor. S. Luh Food Safety Research Center are the chairs of the conference organization committee. The conference advisory committee include Mr. Junshi Chen, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Dr. Joseph Jen, the ex Under Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture, and etc.
Four sections has been set with in the scope of food safety: 1) Public Policy, 2) Risk Assessment Technology; 3) Detection technology, and 4) Processing and Information Technology. 19 experts from north America, Europe and China were invited to give presentations. More than 300 scholars attended the conference and discussed the food safety issues with the speakers.
